ACCELERATE GREEN

Running from February to May 2022, Accelerate Green will operate from Boora, which represents the centre of Bord na Móna’s innovation heritage, demonstrating Bord na Móna’s commitment to the Midlands’ communities who are a key part of an ecosystem of projects and assets connected to eco-innovation, circular economy, and sustainability.  This programme also links their commitment to Peatlands and People, an EU LIFE funded programme in partnership with ERINN Innovation.

Bord na Móna are collaborating with leading Irish innovation advisory firm Resolve Partners and ERINN Innovation to develop Accelerate Green, the first scaling accelerator programme in Ireland to focus on a sustainable transition to the green economy. This work is supported with partial funding through the Bord na Móna led European Commission funded LIFE Integrated Project “Peatlands and People”, an initiative that aims to support the realisation of a carbon-neutral, climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable country. Accelerate Green brings together Bord na Móna’s organisational and commercial expertise in transitioning to a climate solutions organisation, and Resolve Partners unparalleled expertise in building and advising innovation companies that scale.

Accelerate Green offers participating companies the necessary tools, advice, mentoring, and a community of expertise that will enable them to understand the opportunities in transitioning to a green, and low carbon economy, and how to overcome the obstacles that prevent scale.

  • Access to Bord na Móna as a collaborative and reference customer.
  • Access to infrastructure to enable scaling of activities. 
  • Access to R&D test beds through our Empower Eco partners TUS, Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands, Midwest, and commercial test beds as part of Bord na Móna’s infrastructure.  

Accelerate Green is an impact accelerator. Having impact embedded in the business solution is a mandatory requirement for participating in Accelerate Green. The successful applicants must be solving or planning to solve social and environmental challenges alongside having the potential for an attractive financial return.

Participating companies don’t give up any equity as part of the programme.

Programme Delivery

The programme will be run in eight two-day blocks over four months at Bord na Móna facility in Boora. The programme will be delivered every second week and will culminate in a programme showcase to stakeholders, ecosystem participants, industry partners and investors.

The programme will be run in a 375sq.m standalone premises located in the Bord Na Móna complex, Leabeg, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The property is situated adjacent to Lough Boora Discovery Park (Home – Lough Boora Discovery Park) and is part of the Bord na Móna Boora complex. It offers high quality office space with Wi-Fi, open plan desk space, meeting rooms and individual offices
